Our method
How a Creator Gear guide gets written
We publish slowly and revise often. Every guide follows the same four stages, and we tell you plainly where the limits of our knowledge sit.

Define the decision
Before any product is named, we work out what the reader is actually choosing between. Most bad recommendations come from answering the wrong question.

Gather primary sources
Manufacturer documentation, published specifications and regulatory guidance come first. Second-hand summaries and marketing copy are treated as claims, not facts.

Separate fact from opinion
Anything we cannot verify is labelled as unverified. We do not claim first-hand testing we have not done, and we do not invent numbers to fill a table.

Write, then cut
A guide is finished when a beginner can follow it and an experienced creator does not roll their eyes. Everything that fails both tests gets removed.
What we will never do
We will not claim to have tested equipment we have not used, quote prices or specifications we cannot verify, or rank a product higher because it pays better. If a guide has gaps, we would rather say so than fill them with guesswork.

How does Creator Gear make money?
We earn affiliate commission when readers buy through some of the links on this site. It costs you nothing extra, and it does not change which products we recommend or how we order them. Plenty of the equipment we suggest carries no commission at all, and we still suggest it when it is the right answer.
Do you accept payment for reviews or placements?
No. We do not sell coverage, rankings or placement, and we do not publish sponsored content presented as editorial. If we ever publish something a brand has paid for, it will be labelled unambiguously at the top of the page, not in small print at the bottom.
Why do your comparison tables leave out prices and specifications?
Because both change constantly, and a stale figure presented confidently is more damaging than no figure at all. Where a specification genuinely affects your decision we explain what it does, then point you to the manufacturer’s current listing so you are reading today’s number rather than ours from last year.
Have you personally tested every product you mention?
No, and we will never imply otherwise. Where our advice comes from documentation, published specifications or established consensus rather than first-hand use, we say so. Claiming hands-on experience we do not have is the fastest way for a publication like this to become worthless.
Where should a complete beginner start?
With a buying guide rather than a best-of list. A ranking only helps once you know which category you are shopping in, and that is the decision most people get wrong.
